Camping with caravan in the nature
In many countries, it is not allowed to drive off-road with a caravan to camp. If you choose to stay overnight at a rest area, you can usually stay for a maximum of 24 hours on weekdays and a little longer during weekends.
Virtually all natural land is terrain in the sense of law. In addition to” forest and land”, beaches, pastures, Parkland, and lawns are also counted as terrain. The ban is in the off-road driving act.
The law also applies to the landowner himself. Thus, a landowner cannot give any other permission to drive out into the terrain on its own land.
Camping in nature
There are no provisions on how long you can set up your motor vehicle in the same place. As for tents, the border is considered to go at any one-off day. A runner or camper is probably perceived as more disturbing than a tent.
Therefore, always ask the landowner for permission before you set up your runner or camper near residential buildings, even if it’s just for one night.
To stay overnight in rest areas
If you choose to stay overnight with your runner or camper on a rest area, you can usually stay for a maximum of 24 hours. On Saturdays, Sundays and holidays you can stay until the next weekday. If other rules apply, you will see this on an additional board under the p-mark at the rest area.
Local traffic or orderly regulations in the municipality may contain rules for overnight stays and the construction of a runner or camper on rest areas. Contact the municipality for more information.
Individual road
It is up to the person who owns an individual road to determine whether traffic with motor vehicles is allowed. The owner has the right to prohibit motor traffic or certain types of motor vehicles.
You can set up a motor vehicle right next to the road. But the premise is that the land is not damaged and that the landowner is not hindered in its activities. You must also not prevent or pose any danger to traffic.
On individual roads, the same rules apply to the park as on other roads. If a landowner wants to regulate parking, it can be done by local traffic regulations.
A landowner may prohibit or permit parking under certain conditions of the “act on the control fee in case of unloved parking”. The landowner must put up signs with the conditions that apply.
You are allowed to stand on private car parking. However, if you park and use two marked boxes, you will need to redeem the ticket for both. Place both tickets clearly visible in the left corner of the front window.
If, on the other hand, you park on a gravel area without marked boxes, your vehicle will be counted as a vehicle and you will only pay for one.
Where you can park your vehicle depends on how it is registered with the Transport Agency.
Vehicles that are registered as a passenger car can stand in any parking space that is signposted for passenger cars as long as all four tires fit within the same box. You may not use the site for anything other than parking.
